Personal Experience After Upgrading to MyVisa 2.0

On August 1, 2025, Malaysia’s e-visa website received a major update called the “MyVisa 2.0 System.” The new system is more modern, organized, and powered by AI to make user experience smarter and safer. While using it, several new features, benefits, and drawbacks were noticed.

🔐 Login System

Now, every login requires an OTP sent to your registered email.

Benefit: Reduces the chance of hacking.

Drawback: You can’t log in just with ID and password anymore from any device. You must access the email to get the OTP. Temporary email accounts can’t be used for login.

📂 Visa Category Division

Previously, all visa types (Tourist, Student, Expatriate, Medical) were shown together. Now, they’re split into two groups: “With Reference” and “Without Reference.”

Note: No major pros or cons noticed yet from a user’s perspective.

📝 Auto-Filling Forms

When you upload your passport data page, important details like name, passport number, birth date, issue and expiry dates get auto-filled in the form.

Benefit: Saves time and reduces typing errors.

Drawback: Blurry images from phone or scans aren’t accepted.

📸 Photo Upload Improvements

AI checks your uploaded photo for resolution, background, size, and overall suitability.

Benefit: Automatically rejects selfies, wrong backgrounds, or incorrect sizes.

Drawback: Sometimes AI wrongly rejects valid photos, especially ones with low light or shading. Photos of women in hijab may also get flagged at times.

📊 Status Tracking

You now get real-time updates and automatic notifications via email.

Benefit: You receive payment receipt automatically after submission, and visa status is easy to track via email. If rejected, you get to know the reason.

Drawback: Notifications sometimes arrive late or go to spam.

📄 Document System

Documents like passport, photo, flight details are auto-validated by AI. The “Previous Visa Upload” option for tourist visas has been removed.

Benefit: Faster verification. One less step means one less hassle.

Drawback: AI can be too strict and reject documents that were actually acceptable.

Overall Impression: MyVisa 2.0 brings major upgrades in technology and digital safety. It’s a challenge for new users at first, but with time, people will get used to it.
